Self-Storage Facilities Aid Tsunami Victims
On Sept. 29, 2009, a series of tsunami waves caused by a massive 8.3 earthquake wiped out many coastal villages in American Samoa and Samoa. A-American Self Storage, the Ali’I Pauahi Hawaiian Civic Club, and the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers conducted a drive to collect and send food, toiletries, linens, military cots, children’s T-shirts and shorts, and other items to people in shelters and villages in American Samoa who were not receiving adequate services. A-American donated $25,000 to cover shipping costs and provided drop-off points at its locations in Pearl City, Kalihi, and on South Street in Kaka’ako.
In addition, Lawai Cannery Self Storage, managed by TNT Self Storage Management, provided a drop-off location for donations for the MySamoa Relief Group.
