Facility Employees Save Homeless Man’s Dog

The economy has made life hard for a lot of people, but some kind-hearted self-storage employees in Hesperia, Calif., came together to make life a little better for one homeless man. In November, Arthur McDonald stopped to rest with his best friend and sole companion, an eight-year-old German shepherd mix named Big Boy. He tied the dog to a shady spot near Sparky’s Self-Storage. Later, he discovered that Big Boy was missing.

Sparky’s employees are familiar with McDonald and his dog; the two live in a tent near the facility. Don Willis, a Sparky’s maintenance worker visited the Hesperia Animal Shelter and found Big Boy. To save the dog from being euthanized, Willis and his co-workers took up a collection to pay the shelter $145 for the dog’s release.
