Mouse Infestation Results In Drug Bust

Salomon Penaloza-Benitez, a tenant at Southern Self Storage in Ocala, Fla., was concerned about mice damaging his stored property. He complained to the manager who promptly agreed to take care of the problem. That’s when things got a little strange.

Once the manager agreed to clear the infestation, Penaloza-Benitez told her not to worry about it. He had good reason to be concerned.

Drug agents discovered 18 pounds of marijuana stored inside of the rented space. The drugs were sealed in clear bags and were hidden inside backpacks. Further investigation indicated that Penaloza-Benitez, who had rented the unit since March, may have been involved in the surge of drug activity recently occurring in that area. Penaloza-Benitez was arrested and taken to the county jail.
