Planet Benefits From Solar Energy
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund (CCEF) announced that Planet Self Storage in Newington, Conn., one of three solar photovoltaic (PV) projects that it funded, is now completed and successfully operating. Planet’s 28.6-kilowatt solar PV system is the state’s first ground mounted solar PV system in a commercial application. The solar installation at Planet Self Storage is now supplying approximately 30 percent of the total electrical needs for the Newington facility. “We have considered solar energy as an option in the past, however the cost was prohibitive,” says Charlie Fritts, chief operating officer of Storage Investment Management. “Thanks to the funding available through CCEF, solar energy at Planet Self Storage became viable.”
