Donations Aid Ophir Fire Victims

Oroville RV/Boat & Self Storage in Oroville, Calif., put out the call for community help in assisting victims of the Ophir fire. The management team at the storage facility set up a donation drop off point at the business and less than 24 hours later, three storage units were filled with new and used household goods, clothing, furniture, toys, toiletries, and canned food items.

“We had people locally and from far away wanting to make cash donations,” said manager Connie Petersen. “I had to set up a special bank account in partnership with the Red Cross.” The community flooded the self-storage business with donations and fire victims came in to receive clothing and personal items. They were also invited to sign up for a free self-storage unit. The company plans to allow those affected by the fire to stay free of charge for two months.
